[Lazarus] TAChart tutorial

ik
Hello,

I'm looking for a tutorial for TAChart. I started looking at the examples, but there are many things that are made in the OI that I do not understand them, and I can not find any documentation on them, so a tutorial can really help.

Thanks,

Ido

Unfortunately, there is no tutorial currently.
TAChart has documentation in the fpdoc format.
[Rant: It is currently stalled since fpdoc is broken, and FPC team
rejected my patch to fix it]

There were a few users who expressed an interested in writing tutorials,
but none of them did that.
Maybe I shall write some myself -- but not soon.

Meanwhile, if you have conrete questions -- please ask.
I will try to answer extensively, so when/if somebody starts a tutorial,
my answers could be used to fill in.

Well, fpdoc is not broken. It simply doesn't support generics.
It would be broken if it claimed to support generics and did not.

A patch to support generics is welcome, but it must be a complete patch.

Michael.

Sorry, Michael, but that is exactly what I am ranting about.

I am tempted to express my opinion in strong words here,
but instead I will ask you to look at the recent post by Linus Torvalds,
in particular the all-caps words.

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=638477#c129

You might want to read the thread entirely -- while it is totally unrelatred
to FPC/Lazaurs, it illustrates a problem very similar to the one I notice
in FPC development.

Sure. Meanwhile, TAChart users will be without documentation.

I have been busy on the Lazarus book since November, I have looked at the
bug tracker very seldomly.

I have answered and gave a workaround for your specific problem.

Michael.
